TO THE DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMEN`S RIDE IN IRELAND!

Do you know the Distinguished Gentlemen`s Ride or DGR for short?

This is a joint motorbike ride that takes place every year all over the world.

At the Gentlemen’s Ride, it is appreciated if you ride in a fine suit – and that opens the door to costumes!

Have a look at this Youtube video: Official The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride 2022 – Wrap Up Video.

Besides, motorcyclists are allowed to behave well in public! If we like to be seen and passers-by are happy about the motorbikes, that’s something very nice!

Oldtimers or modern retro bikes are very welcome, but every motorcyclist is welcome, no matter with which motorbike and also in a normal motorbike suit.

Besides the nice ride with like-minded people, donations will be diligently collected. For men’s health and against prostate cancer and other diseases. Here, too, everyone is welcome to donate or collect donations, even if they don’t ride along.

Despite the focus on men’s health, this is not a men-only event. Women are of course just as welcome – at least!

The DGR was founded in Australia in 2012 and is now held worldwide. Since then, 115 countries around the world have been involved and 340 000 participants have raised a total of $31.6 million in donations.

The DGR is also celebrated in Ireland. In 2023, the date falls on 21 May – and you can be part of it!

For example in Dublin, Clonmel or Cork. More information and registration can be found at gentlemensride.com.

Dublin has the largest group of motorcyclists. The DGR in Clonmel is smaller, but the organisers and participants put a lot of effort into it. Have a look at these nice Youtube videos: Distinguished Gentlemen`s Ride 2022 Clonmel and DGR 2019 Ireland, Clonmel Co.Tipperary.

Of course, you can easily incorporate the DGR 2023 into your motorbike tour of Ireland, so add a week before or after and experience the beautiful Emerald Isle.

Many of our rental customers from all over the world have participated in DGRs all over the world!

For the DGR, our Honda Rebel Cruisers are certainly a nice choice – see cover picture. But of course you can also participate with a BMW touring enduro – and travel of course :-).

Have Fun!

Hello and welcome! Originating from Germany, my family and I have a second home in Ireland, where we ran a motorbike rental business for several years. During that time, I started this blog, initially with articles about Ireland only. Since then, it has continued to grow: Wales, Scotland, England, France and other European countries will follow. What is particularly important to me is real information and experiences from real people who have actually been to the place. With ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google AI, you can get lists of sights and must-see places – which is fine at first. The information usually comes from the websites of the tourism providers in the respective locations. However, many of these places are actually completely overrun, crowded or otherwise annoying. Other, truly beautiful places are not mentioned at all. We do things differently here: I tell you where we've been, which lesser-known places are beautiful (even without a lot of marketing) and which super-famous places are actually amazing (despite a lot of marketing). And I will not tell you that a so called must-see-place is amazing, if it was not. With that in mind, enjoy reading! Yours, Ulrich Knüppel-Gertberg
